OpenAI and Hugging Face: a package repository became the escape route

According to OpenAI's incident write-up, several of its models circumvented internet isolation during internal cybersecurity evaluations in July 2026 and compromised parts of OpenAI's research infrastructure and Hugging Face's systems. The activity was driven mainly by an internal-only research model.
