with the launch of Backpack EU, we prepare for Season 3.
Season starts this Thursday, immediately after Season 2. There's no time to waste as we hit the road in Europe and start to bring in users. Please note. We are doing an invite only rollout for EU. 100 users a day, every day into our new system to meet all regulatory requirements. We'll ramp it up as we go throughout the season and have ensured stability. It'll take some time, I expect at least a month, before we are full force in Europe. This process starts immediately.
During Season 3 we have our sight on many things (see the long update above). Notably, we are now focusing on Japan and the USA. We are going to push hard to unlock these regions for Season 4. It's always impossible to predict the timing of these things. Might be sooner. Might be later. Similar to Europe, we've been working on these regions for years already. It takes time, but we're on it.
During Season 2, we have focused on adjusting the market structure around interest rates. As we work on our Season 3 milestones, we're going to make several adjustments to set the stage for more liquidity. We'll adjust the fee schedule to incentivize more making. We'll add maker transaction prioritization to create more depth. We'll build a lot more infrastructure for market making and risk management. And as a result, we'll add more collateral, more symbols, more borrow-lending pools, and more chains. By the end of Season 3, we aim to have all the product bricks in place for liftoff. Not on a roadmap. Not in a tweet. Actually live in production with one of the most comprehensive cross margin systems in the world. Liquidity is the last big piece to the puzzle. Just as we focused on opening up regulated regions (and continue to focus on this). Just as we focused on performance (and continue to focus on this). We will be focusing on 10xing liquidity with the product and the ability to serve users around the world in place. This will take time as we get everything in place throughout Season 3. It won't happen over night. As usual, we've taken the long road, but it's a road worth taking.
As a result of the above, volume will be weighted much more heavily for Season 3 than it has in the past. This starts now.
As we saw with yesterday's EU announcement, the world is starting to pay attention. We're climbing the tallest of mountains, and we fully intend to be one of the few in the world to summit it.
