🇧🇷 Thousands of supporters of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva filled Rio de Janeiro's Copacabana beachfront on Monday, 13 days before his Oct. 25 runoff against far-right Sen. Flávio Bolsonaro.

The crowd took over about seven blocks of Avenida Atlântica, GloboNews reported. Students, families, unionists and left-wing politicians joined. Lula did not attend. He stayed in Brasília for the national holiday of Our Lady of Aparecida, a day after rallying supporters on São Paulo's Avenida Paulista. The rally was held on Bolsonaro home turf. Flávio, the former president's son, is a senator from Rio and beat Lula in the state in the first round, 53% to 39%. He also narrowly won the city, 47.9% to 43.9%. Copacabana has been the stage for his father's biggest rallies in recent years.
