๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ฆ President Trump on Saturday said Ukraine should replace President Volodymyr Zelensky and demanded Kyiv stop striking Russian oil refineries, a day after announcing a deal with Vladimir Putin to bring Russian diesel to global markets.
"I think it's time for Ukraine to get a new president," Trump told reporters at the White House. "I suggest they get a new leader who can make a deal." He said Zelensky "could have settled this war many times" and "chooses not to."
On the refinery strikes, Trump said, "We said you could do whatever you want to Russia, don't hit the refineries, because that's a world problem," adding, "he better damn well stop."
Trump blamed the attacks for a global diesel shortage, without mentioning the US war on Iran and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Ukraine has hit four Russian refineries this week, and Zelensky vowed Friday to double down on the strikes. FT reports Ukraine will keep up the refinery strikes despite the deal. โWe will burn their refineries,โ a senior official said, after the US-Russia deal was announced.
