🇹🇷 Turkey will not deploy troops to carry out offensive operations under its mutual defense agreement with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Thursday.

“The Mecca agreement requires parties to defend any member under attack. It is not an offensive pact,” Fidan said, stressing that Turkish forces would not be sent into another country to conduct attacks. Fidan said military officials were assessing possible contributions to Saudi Arabia’s defense, particularly air defence, electronic warfare and technical support. The three countries agreed Monday to activate their collective defense commitments and facilitate the rapid deployment of military capabilities to Saudi Arabia following Ansarallah attacks.
