🇺🇸 U.S. soldiers stationed in Okinawa have been given a month-long curfew and are banned from drinking alcohol while they undergo discipline training, according to a statement issued to service members on Tuesday, which also announced that U.S. military would pause its operations on the island for 48 hours to train soldiers on “standards and discipline.”

The ban follows the Tuesday arrest of Lance Cpl. Devin Jacob Ballard, 20, was accused of murdering and robbing 39-year-old Anna Yagi in a Naha hotel on Saturday. Japanese Police told Stars and Stripes that Yagi died of asphyxiation after Ballard allegedly “pressed on her neck,” and that he took her wallet and backpack. Ballard denies the allegations.
