⭕️ Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) told reporters Tuesday he was barred from entering Al Udeid Air Base, the largest U.S. Air Force installation in the Middle East, during a congressional trip to the region, and that the Pentagon also refused to arrange a briefing on the Iran war. Murphy said that he wanted to see “the damage [the war has] caused to our facilities in the region and how it’s harmed our relationships with partners,” adding that his refusal was a part of “an active, unprecedented, unconstitutional effort underway to hide the costs” of the Iran war from Congress.

A senior Defense Department official told The Washington Sun that Murphy’s office was informed before the trip that he would not get access, citing War Secretary Pete Hegseth’s March directive on travel restrictions in the area, which the official said the department “applies... evenly.”
