πΊπ¦ Russian strikes overnight killed at least 11 people across Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky said Wednesday. He said Russia fired about 70 missiles, many of them ballistic, plus Shahed drones, at Kyiv and 12 regions, with the energy grid as a key target.
In Pryluky, in the Chernihiv region, a strike destroyed a five-story apartment building, killing at least five people and injuring 26, including five children. Zelensky said more people may be trapped under the rubble. Two people were killed in Kyiv and two in Oleksandriya. Strikes also damaged apartment buildings in Dnipro and Kremenchuk, killing two and injuring eight.
"Only some of them were shot down," Zelensky said, calling Russian ballistic missiles "the greatest challenge" and pleading for more Patriot interceptors. He said the attack was a birthday "gift" to Putin, who turns 74 today.
The strikes came after Russia vowed to intensify attacks on Kyiv in response to Ukraine's escalating drone campaign against Russian oil infrastructure.
