πΊπ¦ A Russian drone hit Kyiv's Northern Bridge over the Dnipro on Sunday, wounding two people. It was the second bridge hit in the capital this weekend, and earlier in the week Russian attacks forced three of the city's six road bridges to close. In Sumy, a Russian aerial bomb killed one person and wounded 16 per AFP.
The strike came as German Chancellor Friedrich Merz arrived in Kyiv on a surprise visit and announced about $1.1 billion in military aid and $394 million for energy repairs. Hours before he arrived, Russia's Foreign Ministry warned foreign diplomats to "refrain from remaining in or traveling to Ukraine," and the Defense Ministry vowed to "intensify strikes" on Kyiv and other regions.
Moscow said it was responding to President Volodymyr Zelensky, who told Reuters in an interview published Saturday that Ukraine will escalate its strikes on Russian oil refineries. "With their attacks on our energy, we have to respond on their energy," he said. "First of all, oil refiners etc: what gives money to them for this war."
Last month, President Trump has urged Ukraine to stop hitting Russian oil facilities, saying the attacks have sent global diesel prices surging.
