๐ซ ๐บ๐ธ Democrats lead in three Republican-held Senate seats and are tied or within a point in two more, according to New York Times/Siena polls of five GOP-leaning states published Oct. 3.
โค Alaska: Mary Peltola (D) 50%, Sen. Dan Sullivan (R) 43%
โค Texas: James Talarico (D) 51%, Ken Paxton (R) 45%
โค Ohio: Sherrod Brown (D) 49%, Sen. Jon Husted (R) 46%
โค Iowa: Ashley Hinson (R) 48%, Josh Turek (D) 47%
โค Kansas: Adam Hamilton (D) 45%, Sen. Roger Marshall (R) 45%
The polls surveyed 2,946 likely voters from Sept. 21 to Oct. 1. Across the five states, 49% said they want a senator who would check President Trump, versus 27% who want one who supports him.
Separate Siena polls released the previous week showed Abdul El-Sayed (D) leading Mike Rogers (R) by 5 points in Michigan (Sept. 25) and Sen. Susan Collins (R) leading Troy Jackson (D) 49% to 46% in Maine (Sept. 24). Republicans hold a 53-47 majority, so Democrats need a net gain of four seats for control. Results in Ohio, Iowa and Kansas are within the margin of error.
