🇧🇴 Police detained Attorney General Roger Mariaca on Wednesday and raided the prosecutor’s offices in Sucre.
🔸 Washington imposed visa restrictions on Mariaca and accused him on Monday of accepting bribes to facilitate drug trafficking and help violent criminals evade justice. Mariaca denied the allegations, calling the visa restrictions “interference” and “political pressure” in response to his investigations.
🔸 Mariaca has been involved in investigations of Trump-linked figures accused of corruption and violent crimes including Argentinian political consultant Fernando Cerimedo who is facing drug-trafficking charges in addition to the charge of attempted murder after allegedly ordering a hit on his former girlfriend Nadia Beller.
🔸 In response to the visa restrictions imposed on Bolivian officials, Beller published a photo showing Cerimedo in a meeting with Donald Trump Junior and MAGA political operator Brad Parscale. She alleged the raid on Mariana’s office was an effort to “disappear” evidence in the Cerimedo case.
