GERMAN INFLATION HITS HIGHEST LEVEL IN NEARLY 3 YEARS
Germany’s September inflation accelerated to 3.3% YoY, above the 3.2% forecast, driven primarily by surging energy costs.
With inflation also accelerating across France, Italy and Spain, eurozone inflation is expected to reach 3.7%, nearly double the ECB’s target.
The data intensifies pressure on the ECB to deliver a third rate hike, with October and December both under consideration.
