Santini reportedly told Bosonaro's wife, Fernanda, about her husband's activities, causing a rift between the couple. In a chat allegedly between Santini and Bolsonaro shared with PlatôBR, the politician asks his former business partner to stay away from his wife and telling him, "I never imagined that you would be the one to stab me in the back like this." According to the report, Bolsonaro also received a Rolex watch valued at US$ 60,000 purchased by lawyer Alan Belaciano who also is said to have paid for high-end gym equipment installed at the presidential candidate's home in Brasília. Bolsonaro claims the equipment was purchased by a friend as a personal loan. Bolsonaro, son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, has sought to consolidate his father’s conservative base by courting evangelical leaders and voters, appearing at churches and religious events while appealing to the broader right to unite behind his candidacy. A late-campaign controversy over claims that he would strip Nossa Senhora Aparecida of her status as Brazil’s patron saint gave Lula and his allies an opening to court Catholic voters, as Lula publicly pledged to defend the country’s devotion to Aparecida.
