⭕️ The US Strategic Petroleum Reserve fell to 283.8 million barrels as of Friday, its lowest level since October 1982, after releasing 800,000 barrels of crude last week, Department of Energy data compiled by OPIS show.
Releases have slowed to a trickle. Just 1.8 million barrels have left the reserve in September, the smallest monthly total since the drawdown began in March and down from 19.2 million in August.
The US has released 131.6 million barrels since March in response to the Hormuz closure, loaned to companies that must return it with premium barrels. The Trump administration pledged 172 million barrels but has contracted only 133.5 million so far.
